Starting January 18, Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models won’t have the Blood Oxygen(The Blood Oxygen feature on Apple Watch measures the level of oxygen in your blood. It provides insights into your overall health and fitness by indicating how well your body is delivering oxygen to your cells. Monitoring blood oxygen levels can be useful during activities like workouts or for general well-being.) feature in the U.S. due to a sales ban. Although the Blood Oxygen app will be present, users will see an alert directing them to the Health app on their iPhone. This change won’t affect previously-sold models or international sales. The U.S. International Trade Commission imposed the ban, alleging Apple violated Masimo’s patents. Apple disabled the feature on new U.S. models to comply, but an appeal is ongoing, and Apple is working on changes to the app’s algorithm to address the patent concerns. The ban is set to be reinstated by today at 2 p.m. Pacific Time.
